About the Foundation
The Suzanne & Walter Scott Foundation was founded in 1990. It is a public charity as a supporting organization of the Omaha Community Foundation. The Foundation’s geographic area of emphasis is the Omaha metropolitan area (including Harrison, Mills and Pottawattamie counties in Iowa) and all of Greater Nebraska, plus causes outside that region in which the Scotts have had personal involvement.
The Foundation’s vision is to be a catalyst for change in the communities we serve. It seeks to have a significant impact on the capacity of the nonprofit sector to elevate opportunities for youth and raise a community’s quality of life now and well into the future.
The Foundation’s grant making activities and program-related investments center on three major themes:
- Developing community spaces
- Investing in the next generation of leaders
- Empowering youth through higher education
We seek philanthropic partnerships with nonprofits that share our core values.
Behind each activity and investment in our community is the team of dedicated people working at the Foundation that make our efforts a reality. Every position at the Foundation is critical to us achieving the mission Walter Scott, Jr. established. To learn about our current employment opportunities, please click here.
